Three units, three different materials, and only two of the makers will tell you which.

The short answer
Buy the JNFUZ solid oak unit. It is the only organizer in our set whose maker names the actual species, and it does so by explicitly contrasting its oak with bamboo and MDF - which is unusually direct in a category where most listings say high quality wood and leave it there. Four drawers in a 13 by 7.5 in footprint, with metal handles and non-slip silicone pads. If 10.2 in of height is a problem beside your monitor, the DEAYOU bamboo unit at 7.2 in is the alternative, at the cost of 3 more inches of desk depth.

Why weight is a feature here
The single most irritating failure of a desk organizer is that it slides every time you open a drawer. A unit you have to hold with one hand to open with the other is a unit you stop using.
Mass fixes it. The DEAYOU at 10 lb and the JNFUZ at 8.02 lb both stay put. The JNFUZ also adds non-slip silicone pads, which is belt and braces. The SeekElegant at 5.25 lb is the one most likely to need a hand.
This is the clearest argument for wood over mesh in this hub: a wire organizer weighing a few ounces will move, and no amount of rubber feet fully fixes it.
The footprint trade
Wood units are the largest things in this hub, and on a standard 47 by 24 in desk - about 7.8 sq ft - that is a real cost.

Our arithmetic from the published dimensions. The DEAYOU takes a full square foot, which is 13 per cent of a standard desk.
Height is the trade against depth. The JNFUZ is the tallest at 10.2 in, which is taller than the bottom bezel of most monitors on a standard stand - an annoyance you notice daily if it sits beside your screen. The DEAYOU is shorter at 7.2 in and three inches deeper. Measure from your desk to your screen's lower edge before choosing.
What wood organizers do not do
They do not hold paper. Every drawer here is 4 to 7 in wide, where letter paper is 8.5 by 11. These are small-object products: pens, clips, cables, charger ends, batteries.
If paper is the problem, the answer is trays and vertical slots, which is a different product and in this hub a cheaper one. Best desk organizers ranks the whole hub, and tray, shelf or drawers matches the format to the mess.
No organizer in this hub publishes a load rating, wood or otherwise. For a drawer unit carrying small heavy objects that is a real absence, and we have scored documentation accordingly throughout.
How we ranked these
The hub's five metrics - capacity, footprint, build, value and documentation. Build carries real weight here because material is the reason to buy wood at all. Full rubric on how we pick.

What the specs are good for
Solid oak, stated, and JNFUZ explicitly contrasts it with bamboo and MDF rather than hiding behind the word wood
13 by 7.5 in is 3 in less desk depth than the DEAYOU for the same four drawers
Metal handles and silicone pads: two details that separate furniture from a box
Screwdriver included for the handles, which ship separately to protect the finish
What they are not
No published load rating
10.2 in tall is the tallest organizer in this hub and will sit in front of a monitor
Handles need fitting before use
Forty-six dollars

Skip this if the organizer will sit beside a monitor. At 10.2 in it is taller than the bottom bezel of most screens on a standard stand, and that is an annoyance you notice every day.

What the specs are good for
Bamboo rather than particle board, which at 44 dollars is genuinely a solid material
10 lb of mass means the drawers open without the whole unit sliding
Mixed drawer sizes rather than four identical ones, which is how desk clutter actually sorts
Removable compartments, so a drawer can be subdivided or not
What they are not
No published load rating
13.8 by 10.6 in is a full square foot of desk, the largest footprint in this hub
7.2 in tall blocks a monitor's lower edge beside it
No paper capacity: the drawers are too shallow for letter stacks
Skip this if
Skip this if your desk is small. A square foot of a 47 by 24 in desk is a lot to give to small-item storage when an under-desk drawer costs 11 dollars and takes none.
Who it is for. A larger desk where the organizer is visible and should look like an object rather than equipment.

What the specs are good for
6.69 in deep, the shallowest wood organizer here, which matters on a 24 in desk
Washed white suits a light room where oak and bamboo read as heavy
5.25 lb is light enough to move when you clean the desk
Forty-three dollars
What they are not
Does not say what wood it is. The others here name bamboo and oak; this says high-quality wood, which in practice usually means MDF with a veneer
No published load rating
The listing gives two different heights, 8.19 in and 8.27 in
5.25 lb means a loaded drawer can pull the unit forward
Skip this if
Skip this if build quality is the reason you are buying wood. The JNFUZ names solid oak for three dollars more; an unnamed wood at this price is a finish, not a material.
Who it is for. A shallow desk in a light room, where the look is the point.

What the specs are good for
Four trays AND vertical filing AND a drawer AND pen holders, in under one square foot of desk, for 17 dollars
The vertical section is the part most organizers at this price leave out, and it is where live folders go
Dense small mesh rather than wide wire, so paper clips do not fall through
The sliding drawer is divided, so it does not become a single tray of chaos
What they are not
No published load rating, and four loaded letter trays is real weight on a wire frame
5.71 in tall means the trays are shallow; each holds a modest stack, not a ream
Mesh collects dust and is awkward to clean
Assembly required, which at this price means thin fixings
Skip this if
Skip this if your paper arrives in stacks rather than sheets. Four shallow trays overflow fast, and at that point you need a desktop drawer unit or a filing cabinet, not more trays.
Who it is for. Any desk with a paper problem and a square foot to spare. This is the default pick for the hub.
A wood organizer costs 43 to 46 dollars. The WALI 4-tier costs 17, holds paper as well as small items, takes less desk than the bamboo unit, and is on this page so you can see the comparison.
Buy wood because you want the desk to look like that, which on a visible desk is a legitimate reason and the only one. Buy the mesh unit if the object is to get the desk tidy. And before either, consider the 11-dollar drawer that mounts under the desktop and takes no surface at all: best under-desk storage.
FAQ
Questions people ask about this
Are wood desk organizers worth it?+
For a visible desk, yes: they look better and they weigh enough that the drawers open without the unit sliding. For tidiness alone, a 17-dollar mesh unit holds paper as well as small items and takes less desk area.
What is the best wood for a desk organizer?+
Solid oak and bamboo are both genuinely solid at 43 to 46 dollars, and the makers that use them name them. A listing that says only high quality wood generally means board with a veneer, which is a finish rather than a material.
How much desk space does a wood organizer take?+
0.63 to 1.02 sq ft, against a typical 7.8 sq ft desk. The largest takes 13 per cent of a standard desk, which is a real cost when you subtract a laptop, a keyboard and a notebook from the same surface.
Will a wood desk organizer hold paper?+
No. The drawers are 4 to 7 in wide where letter paper is 8.5 by 11. These are small-object products. For paper you want trays and vertical slots, which is a different and cheaper format.
Does the organizer slide when I open a drawer?+
Not if it has mass. The 8 to 10 lb wood units stay put, and one adds non-slip silicone pads as well. A wire organizer weighing a few ounces will move, and rubber feet only partly fix it.
