Three to five thousand dollars for a box, and most listings will not tell you the interior dimensions. Here is who publishes what.
Which pod, in one paragraph
Buy the VESTAEL VST-01. It is the only pod in this category that publishes BOTH its external and its interior dimensions, which means you can measure a chair and a monitor against it before spending 4,300 dollars. Publishing both also lets you derive the wall thickness at about 2.5 in per side, which is the only cross-check available anywhere here on an acoustic claim. If the room is small, the NOVIONIC Focus 1 at 10.9 sq ft is the smallest footprint in the category and the only pod with an RJ45 network port.
What the ratings mean, and what they do not
Almost every pod publishes an RW figure, usually 33 or 35 dB. Most buyers read it as how much quieter it will be inside, and at this price the gap between that reading and the truth matters.
RW is the weighted sound reduction index from ISO 717-1, a laboratory single-number rating for a BUILDING ELEMENT - a wall, a door, a window - sealed into the aperture between two reverberation rooms. It assumes the element is the only path between the two spaces.
A pod is not a building element. It is a freestanding box with a floor, a door seal, a ventilation path and a cable entry. ISO 23351-1 is the standard written specifically for furniture-sized enclosures, and it reports speech level reduction rather than a panel rating. Not one listing in this category publishes an ISO 23351-1 figure, which is why every rating on this site is attributed to its manufacturer with the mismatch named. Are soundproof pods actually soundproof covers it properly.
Interior dimensions should decide this, and usually cannot
You will spend hours a day inside a box roughly 40 in square. Whether a chair, a monitor and your knees fit is not a detail, it is the purchase.
Three of the nine pods we examined publish interior dimensions. Six do not. For a 4,000-dollar object that is a remarkable omission and it is the single largest factor in our ranking: we will not recommend a pod into a room when its usable interior is unpublished.
Footprints range from 10.9 sq ft to 29.6, which is the difference between fitting a spare bedroom and not. The whole dimensional picture, including the door swing and chair clearance no listing mentions, is on office pod dimensions.
Ventilation is the failure mode nobody shops for
People shortlist pods on isolation and complain about stuffiness. A sealed box 40 in square with a person in it heats up and accumulates carbon dioxide quickly, and the better the acoustic seal the worse this gets. It is a direct trade.
Exactly one product in this entire category publishes an airflow figure - four roof extractors, 89 to 120 CFM, 110 m3/h. Everyone else says dual silent fan system, which is a description. Of the pods that do not publish numbers, prefer the ones with a passive vent as well as powered fans, because powered-only ventilation stops when the power does.
The real costs
Budget 3,600 to 5,900 dollars all in. The pod is 3,200 to 5,400; the chair is 150 to 400 and almost every listing states it is not included; delivery is typically by truck with a required recipient rather than a courier drop.
The part people underestimate is the carry. These are 573 to 947 lb objects shipping as panels of around 70 lb each. VESTAEL publishes the per-panel weight, which is the most useful logistics figure anyone gives. Measure the route - door widths, stair turns, landing ceiling height - not just the room. What an office pod actually costs has the full picture including the running cost.
Before you buy one at all
Two honest checks, because a pod solves a problem a lot of buyers do not have.
Is the problem sound getting in, or your room sounding bad? A pod blocks; panels absorb. If calls echo but the house is quiet, 600 dollars of acoustic panels fixes it and the pod addresses something else entirely. Office pod vs treating the room is the comparison.
Have you sealed the door? A 17-dollar sweep closes about 20 square inches of straight-through opening. It is not a substitute for a pod and it is the correct first purchase regardless: how to soundproof a home office door.

What the specs are good for
Publishes interior dimensions. 37.28 x 37.71 x 78.74 in is a number you can measure a chair and a monitor against before you spend 4,300 dollars
Publishing both dimension sets also lets you derive the wall thickness, which is the only cross-check available on an acoustic claim in this category
Also publishes the per-panel weight at about 70 lb, so you know whether two people can carry it upstairs
Dual fans plus a passive vent, and a skylight for daylight
USB-C, cable passthrough and a built-in desk included
What they are not
The "blocks up to 95% of noise" line in the listing is a marketing sentence sitting next to a real RW figure, and the two are not the same kind of statement
RW 35 plus/minus 5 is a 10 dB spread, which is a wide tolerance on the headline number
573 lb in panels of about 70 lb each: this is a two-person job and a careful route plan
Truck delivery with a required recipient
Skip this if
Skip this if you cannot get 70 lb panels to where the pod will live. The assembly is manageable; the carry is what catches people, and VESTAEL deserves credit for publishing the number that tells you.
Who it is for. Anyone who wants to check the thing will actually fit, and fit around them, before buying. This is the pod we would start a shortlist with.

What the specs are good for
Names all three shell materials — glass, galvanized steel, polyester lining — and the glass thickness, which almost nothing else here does
An RJ45 network port, which is the one fit-out item that matters for a pod you will take real calls from and which no other pod here lists
Publishes an assembly estimate in minutes and a crew size, so you can plan the day
39.7 in square is the smallest footprint here at about 10.9 sq ft, which is the difference between fitting a spare room and not
A stated 1-year warranty
What they are not
The plus/minus 35 dB figure names no test standard at all, so it cannot be compared with the RW claims elsewhere on this page
Does not publish interior dimensions, so you cannot check a chair or a monitor against it before it arrives
700 lb shipped disassembled, and the listing's lead time is 3 to 4 weeks
At 39.7 in square the interior will be tight for anyone over about 6 ft
Skip this if
Skip this if you need to know the interior will fit a specific chair or an ultrawide monitor. NOVIONIC publishes everything except the one dimension you measure against, and for a 3,200-dollar purchase that absence should stop you until you have asked them.
Who it is for. Someone with a small spare room, a real need for a wired network connection, and the patience for a month's lead time.

What RW is
Weighted sound reduction index, ISO 717-1 — a rating for a building element, not for furniture. VOLFERDA does not publish an ISO 23351-1 speech-level figure
AC, USB and USB-C outlets, cable passthrough; sofa and chair not included

Absence confirmed against the published specification
What the specs are good for
A named third-party certifier for the acoustic figure. SGS is a real testing house and VOLFERDA naming it is the strongest acoustic evidence in this category
Quad-layer panels and double tempered glass are both specified, not implied
Dual fans AND a passive vent, so airflow does not depend entirely on powered extraction
USB-C alongside USB-A, which dates the design to this decade
Wheels and stabilizer feet together, rather than one or the other
What they are not
RW 33 dB is the lowest published rating of the RW-rated pods here, by about 2 dB
RW is the wrong standard for a furniture enclosure, and VOLFERDA publishes no ISO 23351-1 figure — the same gap as every pod on this page
The listing's dimension fields are internally inconsistent (42.3 in given as height, 90.5 in as width), so the published footprint cannot be trusted
Truck delivery with a required recipient, not a courier drop
Skip this if
Skip this if you want the highest published isolation number. At RW 33 it is nominally 2 dB behind the RW 35 pods here, though both figures are lab ratings for building elements and neither tells you what a call will sound like from outside.

What the specs are good for
Publishes the integrated desk's dimensions, which nobody else does. A 42 by 20 in surface at 30 in high is a genuine desk, not a shelf
46 by 43 in interior is the roomiest here by a clear margin
Publishes the LED's color temperature AND wattage, and says it is dimmable
Self-closing outswing door with an accessible threshold, which is what makes a pod usable rather than a chore
What they are not
16.9 sq ft of footprint: half again the size of the NOVIONIC and VESTAEL pods, and too big for most spare rooms
827.8 lb is the heaviest pod on this page
6500K is a cold daylight temperature; the 4500K pods here will be more comfortable for long sessions
5,200 dollars
Skip this if
Skip this if your room is under about 10 x 10 ft. Fitting a 54 by 45 in box into a small room leaves no space to open the door and nowhere to put the chair when you are not in it.
Who it is for. A garage, basement or large room where the pod is a permanent workstation and the desk inside has to hold two monitors.
They substantially reduce sound and are not soundproof. Published RW figures of 25 to 35 dB describe a large reduction - speech inside is typically audible as sound but not followable as words from outside. That is the threshold most privacy needs, and it is not silence.
How much does an office pod cost?+
3,200 to 5,400 dollars for the Amazon-available tier, plus 150 to 400 for a chair that is almost never included. Premium direct-sale brands such as Framery and ROOM run 8,000 to 20,000 and are usually quoted rather than priced.
How much space does an office pod need?+
Between 11 and 30 sq ft of permanent footprint, plus about 30 in in front for the door swing and chair access. A single-person pod realistically needs a 9 by 9 ft room to leave it usable; a solo work pod needs 11 by 11.
Why are Framery and ROOM not on this site?+
They do not sell through Amazon. Those are direct-sale products, typically 8,000 to 20,000 dollars and usually quoted. This site covers what you can buy with a price attached, and we would rather say that than pretend the category stops where our links do.
Do office pods need an electrician?+
No. They plug into a standard outlet and carry their own internal wiring for lighting, fans and sockets, and none requires a dedicated circuit at the loads published. You do need an outlet within reach of the pod's position.

ISO 717-1 — Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements, airborne sound insulation
The standard behind the RW figures most office pods publish. RW is a laboratory single-number rating for a BUILDING ELEMENT measured between two reverberant rooms, which a freestanding furniture enclosure is not. We name the mismatch wherever an RW figure appears.
ISO 23351-1 — Acoustics, measurement of speech level reduction of furniture ensembles and enclosures
The standard written specifically for pods and booths; it reports speech level reduction (DS,A). Not one listing in this category publishes a DS,A figure, which is why every pod rating on this site is presented as the manufacturer's RW claim rather than as a comparable isolation figure.
