Three of nine pods publish an interior dimension. For a four-thousand-dollar box you step inside, that is the number that should decide the purchase.

The short answer
A single-person pod is 39.7 to 42.3 in square and about 90 in tall, which is roughly 11 sq ft of footprint. A solo work pod is 53 to 54 by 45 in, which is about 17 sq ft. Add roughly 30 in in front for the door swing and room to get a chair in and out. In practice a single-person pod needs a room of at least 9 by 9 ft to leave that room usable, and a solo work pod needs 11 by 11.

Footprints are our arithmetic from each published external size. Compiled 2026-10-03 from each listing's own specification; the gaps are the listings' gaps, not ours.
The clearances nobody publishes
The footprint is not the space the pod needs. Four additional allowances, none of which appear in any listing.
Real floor space for a single-person pod
Pod footprint: about 11 sq ft (3.3 x 3.3 ft)
Door swing: most publish an OUTSWING door, needing about 30 in clear in front
Chair clearance: you have to get a chair in and out, about 24 in of that same space
Access to at least one other side for assembly and cleaning: 12 in
Total practical allocation: roughly 24 to 28 sq ft for an 11 sq ft pod
Our arithmetic. The door swing and chair clearance overlap, so they do not simply add. In a 10 x 10 ft room that is about a quarter of the floor for a single-person pod.
The outswing door is the detail to notice. Several pods here publish a self-closing outswing door with a low threshold, which is good design - an inswing door in a 37 in interior would be unusable. It also means the swing clearance is outside the pod, in your room, permanently.
Height, and the ceiling nobody measures
Pods are 89.7 to 91 in tall, which is 7 ft 6 in to 7 ft 7 in. A standard room ceiling is 8 ft, so you have 5 to 6 in of clearance.
That is enough, and it rules out several rooms immediately:
A converted loft with a sloped ceiling. The pod needs its full height across its whole footprint.
A basement with exposed services. Pipes, ducting and joists frequently drop the effective ceiling below 8 ft.
Any room with a ceiling fan or a pendant light over the intended position.
Assembly clearance. You need to raise panels into position, which needs more headroom than the finished height.
The route, which catches more people than the room
Pods ship disassembled as panels. VESTAEL publishes about 70 lb per panel, which is the most useful logistics figure anyone gives.
01Front door width. A 90 in panel does not go through a standard door upright, and it may not turn in a hallway.
02Stair turns. A half-landing with a 90-degree turn is where long panels stop. Measure the diagonal.
03Landing ceiling height, if upstairs. You need to tilt a long panel to turn it.
04Floor loading. 573 to 947 lb concentrated on 11 to 30 sq ft. On a ground floor over a slab this is a non-issue; on a first floor it is a question worth asking, and you cannot ask it about a pod that publishes no weight.
Interior space: what the figures mean in practice
The only interiors published are VESTAEL's 37.28 by 37.71 in and GEARONIC's 46 by 43 in. Run those against real objects.

What the specs are good for
Publishes interior dimensions. 37.28 x 37.71 x 78.74 in is a number you can measure a chair and a monitor against before you spend 4,300 dollars
Publishing both dimension sets also lets you derive the wall thickness, which is the only cross-check available on an acoustic claim in this category
Also publishes the per-panel weight at about 70 lb, so you know whether two people can carry it upstairs
Dual fans plus a passive vent, and a skylight for daylight
USB-C, cable passthrough and a built-in desk included
What they are not
The "blocks up to 95% of noise" line in the listing is a marketing sentence sitting next to a real RW figure, and the two are not the same kind of statement
RW 35 plus/minus 5 is a 10 dB spread, which is a wide tolerance on the headline number
573 lb in panels of about 70 lb each: this is a two-person job and a careful route plan
Truck delivery with a required recipient
Skip this if
Skip this if you cannot get 70 lb panels to where the pod will live. The assembly is manageable; the carry is what catches people, and VESTAEL deserves credit for publishing the number that tells you.
Who it is for. Anyone who wants to check the thing will actually fit, and fit around them, before buying. This is the pod we would start a shortlist with.

What the specs are good for
Names all three shell materials — glass, galvanized steel, polyester lining — and the glass thickness, which almost nothing else here does
An RJ45 network port, which is the one fit-out item that matters for a pod you will take real calls from and which no other pod here lists
Publishes an assembly estimate in minutes and a crew size, so you can plan the day
39.7 in square is the smallest footprint here at about 10.9 sq ft, which is the difference between fitting a spare room and not
A stated 1-year warranty
What they are not
The plus/minus 35 dB figure names no test standard at all, so it cannot be compared with the RW claims elsewhere on this page
Does not publish interior dimensions, so you cannot check a chair or a monitor against it before it arrives
700 lb shipped disassembled, and the listing's lead time is 3 to 4 weeks
At 39.7 in square the interior will be tight for anyone over about 6 ft
Skip this if
Skip this if you need to know the interior will fit a specific chair or an ultrawide monitor. NOVIONIC publishes everything except the one dimension you measure against, and for a 3,200-dollar purchase that absence should stop you until you have asked them.
Who it is for. Someone with a small spare room, a real need for a wired network connection, and the patience for a month's lead time.

What the specs are good for
Publishes the integrated desk's dimensions, which nobody else does. A 42 by 20 in surface at 30 in high is a genuine desk, not a shelf
46 by 43 in interior is the roomiest here by a clear margin
Publishes the LED's color temperature AND wattage, and says it is dimmable
Self-closing outswing door with an accessible threshold, which is what makes a pod usable rather than a chore
What they are not
16.9 sq ft of footprint: half again the size of the NOVIONIC and VESTAEL pods, and too big for most spare rooms
827.8 lb is the heaviest pod on this page
6500K is a cold daylight temperature; the 4500K pods here will be more comfortable for long sessions
5,200 dollars
Skip this if
Skip this if your room is under about 10 x 10 ft. Fitting a 54 by 45 in box into a small room leaves no space to open the door and nowhere to put the chair when you are not in it.
Who it is for. A garage, basement or large room where the pod is a permanent workstation and the desk inside has to hold two monitors.
A single-person phone booth is 39.7 to 42.3 in square and about 90 in tall, around 11 sq ft of footprint. A solo work pod is 53 to 54 by 45 in, about 17 sq ft. Add roughly 30 in in front for the door swing and chair access.
How much room do you need for an office pod?+
Roughly two to two and a half times its footprint once you allow for the door swing, getting a chair in and out, and access for assembly. A single-person pod realistically needs a 9 by 9 ft room; a solo work pod needs 11 by 11.
What is the interior size of an office pod?+
Where it is published, about 5 in smaller than the external size in each direction because of the wall build-up. VESTAEL publishes 37.28 by 37.71 by 78.74 in inside a 42.32 by 38.97 by 90.55 in shell. Six of the nine pods we examined publish no interior at all.
Will an office pod fit under an 8 ft ceiling?+
Yes, with 5 to 6 in to spare at the usual 89.7 to 91 in pod height. It will not fit under a sloped loft ceiling, in a basement with exposed services, or where a ceiling fan or pendant light sits over the position.
How heavy is an office pod?+
573 to 947 lb assembled, shipping as panels of around 70 lb each. Two pods in our set publish no weight at all, which makes floor loading on an upper story a question you cannot answer.

ISO 717-1 — Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements, airborne sound insulation
The standard behind the RW figures most office pods publish. RW is a laboratory single-number rating for a BUILDING ELEMENT measured between two reverberant rooms, which a freestanding furniture enclosure is not. We name the mismatch wherever an RW figure appears.
