A phone booth is a pod sized for one person and one conversation. The spec that matters most is the one most sellers leave out.

The short answer
Buy the NOVIONIC Focus 1 if the room is small, the VESTAEL VST-01 if you need to verify the fit before buying. The NOVIONIC is 39.7 in square, which is about 10.9 sq ft and the smallest footprint in this category by a clear margin - in a spare bedroom that is the difference between fitting and not. It is also the only booth here with an RJ45 network port. The VESTAEL is 0.6 sq ft larger and publishes its interior dimensions, which the NOVIONIC does not.
Booth or pod? The distinction is footprint
There is no formal definition, but the category splits roughly where the floor area does.
A phone booth is sized for one standing or perched person and a short conversation. Roughly 10 to 12 sq ft of footprint, 39 to 42 in square.
A solo work pod is sized for a person to sit and work for hours. Roughly 16 to 20 sq ft, with a real desk and often a skylight.
A meeting pod takes two or more. 20 sq ft and up, and well past what a home office can usually give to it.
For a home office this distinction decides everything, because the limit is almost never budget - it is floor. A 39.7 in square box in a 10 by 10 ft room leaves the room usable. A 54 by 45 in box in the same room does not.
The money in this category, and what it buys
Search data puts "office phone booth" at about 1,900 US searches a month with a cost per click around 23 dollars, which is the highest commercial intent anywhere in this site's subject matter. That is a signal about buyers: people searching this term are usually buying, and usually for an office rather than a spare bedroom.
It also explains the SERP. The high-value results are dominated by manufacturers ranking their own stock, and the independent coverage is thin: we found roundups giving each pod roughly 138 words and no specification table at all. Depth per product is the gap in this category, which is why every pick below carries its full published specification with the source named.

Footprints are our arithmetic from the published external dimensions. They exclude door swing and the clearance you need to get a chair in and out, which office pod dimensions covers.
What to insist on before spending 3,000 dollars
01Interior dimensions in writing. Three of the six booths here publish them. If yours does not, ask the seller and get the answer in a message rather than a phone call. A 2.5 in wall thickness per side means an interior roughly 5 in smaller than the box in each direction, and that 5 in is the difference between comfortable and claustrophobic.
02A ventilation description, ideally a figure. Only one product in this whole category publishes CFM. Failing that, confirm there is a passive vent as well as powered fans.
03A weight. It determines whether your floor and your stairs can take it, and whether two people can assemble it. MOFGOE publishes none for an 800 lb-class object.
04The lead time. NOVIONIC publishes 3 to 4 weeks. Several others ship in days. If you are solving a problem that is already annoying you, that gap matters.
05What the door does. A self-closing outswing door with a low threshold is the difference between a booth you step into and a booth you negotiate with. Several here publish this; several say nothing.
How we ranked these
The hub's five metrics - isolation, interior, ventilation, fit-out and documentation - with footprint carrying extra weight on this page because this is the format people buy when space is the constraint. Full rubric on how we pick.

What the specs are good for
Names all three shell materials — glass, galvanized steel, polyester lining — and the glass thickness, which almost nothing else here does
An RJ45 network port, which is the one fit-out item that matters for a pod you will take real calls from and which no other pod here lists
Publishes an assembly estimate in minutes and a crew size, so you can plan the day
39.7 in square is the smallest footprint here at about 10.9 sq ft, which is the difference between fitting a spare room and not
A stated 1-year warranty
What they are not
The plus/minus 35 dB figure names no test standard at all, so it cannot be compared with the RW claims elsewhere on this page
Does not publish interior dimensions, so you cannot check a chair or a monitor against it before it arrives
700 lb shipped disassembled, and the listing's lead time is 3 to 4 weeks
At 39.7 in square the interior will be tight for anyone over about 6 ft
Skip this if
Skip this if you need to know the interior will fit a specific chair or an ultrawide monitor. NOVIONIC publishes everything except the one dimension you measure against, and for a 3,200-dollar purchase that absence should stop you until you have asked them.

What the specs are good for
Publishes interior dimensions. 37.28 x 37.71 x 78.74 in is a number you can measure a chair and a monitor against before you spend 4,300 dollars
Publishing both dimension sets also lets you derive the wall thickness, which is the only cross-check available on an acoustic claim in this category
Also publishes the per-panel weight at about 70 lb, so you know whether two people can carry it upstairs
Dual fans plus a passive vent, and a skylight for daylight
USB-C, cable passthrough and a built-in desk included
What they are not
The "blocks up to 95% of noise" line in the listing is a marketing sentence sitting next to a real RW figure, and the two are not the same kind of statement
RW 35 plus/minus 5 is a 10 dB spread, which is a wide tolerance on the headline number
573 lb in panels of about 70 lb each: this is a two-person job and a careful route plan
Truck delivery with a required recipient
Skip this if
Skip this if you cannot get 70 lb panels to where the pod will live. The assembly is manageable; the carry is what catches people, and VESTAEL deserves credit for publishing the number that tells you.
Who it is for. Anyone who wants to check the thing will actually fit, and fit around them, before buying. This is the pod we would start a shortlist with.

Weighted sound reduction index, ISO 717-1 — a rating for a building element, not for furniture. VOLFERDA does not publish an ISO 23351-1 speech-level figure

What the specs are good for
A named third-party certifier for the acoustic figure. SGS is a real testing house and VOLFERDA naming it is the strongest acoustic evidence in this category
Quad-layer panels and double tempered glass are both specified, not implied
Dual fans AND a passive vent, so airflow does not depend entirely on powered extraction
USB-C alongside USB-A, which dates the design to this decade
Wheels and stabilizer feet together, rather than one or the other
What they are not
RW 33 dB is the lowest published rating of the RW-rated pods here, by about 2 dB
RW is the wrong standard for a furniture enclosure, and VOLFERDA publishes no ISO 23351-1 figure — the same gap as every pod on this page
The listing's dimension fields are internally inconsistent (42.3 in given as height, 90.5 in as width), so the published footprint cannot be trusted
Truck delivery with a required recipient, not a courier drop
Skip this if
Skip this if you want the highest published isolation number. At RW 33 it is nominally 2 dB behind the RW 35 pods here, though both figures are lab ratings for building elements and neither tells you what a call will sound like from outside.

What the specs are good for
Publishes the integrated desk's dimensions, which nobody else does. A 42 by 20 in surface at 30 in high is a genuine desk, not a shelf
46 by 43 in interior is the roomiest here by a clear margin
Publishes the LED's color temperature AND wattage, and says it is dimmable
Self-closing outswing door with an accessible threshold, which is what makes a pod usable rather than a chore
What they are not
16.9 sq ft of footprint: half again the size of the NOVIONIC and VESTAEL pods, and too big for most spare rooms
827.8 lb is the heaviest pod on this page
6500K is a cold daylight temperature; the 4500K pods here will be more comfortable for long sessions
5,200 dollars
Skip this if
Skip this if your room is under about 10 x 10 ft. Fitting a 54 by 45 in box into a small room leaves no space to open the door and nowhere to put the chair when you are not in it.
Who it is for. A garage, basement or large room where the pod is a permanent workstation and the desk inside has to hold two monitors.

What the specs are good for
Publishes actual airflow figures: 89 to 120 CFM and 110 m3/h. Nobody else in this category publishes any ventilation number, and stuffiness is the complaint pod owners actually have
A complete material build-up including the 5 cm core thickness, which is more construction detail than any other pod here
A mechanical lock that still works in a power cut, which is a genuine safety consideration in a sealed box
3-year warranty, three times the rest of this page
Separate switches for light and extract
What they are not
Publishes no acoustic rating whatsoever. For a product whose entire purpose is isolation, that is the one number that should be there
No interior dimensions
20.2 sq ft footprint, the largest here
"Generic" brand with no model number, so there is nothing to look up or follow up
Skip this if
Skip this if isolation is the reason you are buying a pod, which it almost certainly is. The ventilation and construction data are the best on this page and the acoustic data does not exist, and you cannot shortlist on build-up alone.
Who it is for. Someone who has used a pod before, knows stuffiness is the real failure mode, and will trade an unpublished acoustic figure for published airflow.

What the specs are good for
A real model number, which makes it possible to follow up with the manufacturer
86.6 in wide is genuinely large; two people fit without negotiating
947 lb of mass, and mass is the one thing that genuinely helps acoustically
What they are not
25 dB plus/minus 5 is the lowest published figure here, roughly 10 dB behind the RW 35 pods, from the largest and heaviest unit
Publishes no ventilation, no fit-out, no interior dimensions and no electrical provision
The listing describes it as a "portable recording booth" and "lightweight", neither of which is true of a 947 lb object
29.6 sq ft will not fit in a normal spare room
Skip this if
Skip this if you want isolation per dollar or per square foot. At 4,949 dollars for a claimed 25 dB it is behind every RW 35 pod here on the headline number and well behind all of them on documentation.
Who it is for. A large open space where the footprint is free and two people need to use it at once.
Is the problem sound getting in, or your room sounding bad? A booth blocks; panels absorb. If your calls echo but the house is quiet, 600 dollars of wall panels fixes it and the booth solves a problem you do not have. Office pod vs treating the room is the comparison.
Have you sealed the door? A 17-dollar door sweep closes about 20 square inches of straight-through opening. It is not a substitute for a booth and it is the correct first purchase regardless. How to soundproof a home office door.
Would a partition do? If the requirement is separation rather than isolation, a 380-dollar acoustic partition may be enough. Office pod vs room divider walks that decision properly, and what an office pod actually costs has the full cost picture including the things that are not the purchase price.
FAQ
Questions people ask about this
How much does an office phone booth cost?+
The Amazon-available tier runs roughly 3,200 to 5,400 dollars for a single-person booth, plus a chair at 150 to 400 and in most cases truck delivery with a required recipient. The premium direct-sale brands sit at 8,000 to 20,000 and are usually quoted. What an office pod actually costs breaks down the full picture.
How big is an office phone booth?+
The single-person booths here are 39.7 to 42.3 in square externally, which is about 11 sq ft of footprint, standing around 90 in tall. Interior space is roughly 5 in smaller in each direction because of the wall build-up, where it is published at all.
Do phone booths need to be assembled?+
Yes. They ship disassembled as panels weighing around 70 lb each. VESTAEL publishes 1 to 2 hours for two people and NOVIONIC publishes about 100 minutes. The carry up a staircase is usually harder than the assembly.
Can a phone booth go in a spare bedroom?+
A 10 to 12 sq ft booth fits a normal spare bedroom and leaves it usable. The larger 17 to 30 sq ft pods generally do not. Plan the door swing and leave clearance to get a chair in and out, not just the footprint.
Are office phone booths worth it for working from home?+
If the household can hear your calls and you can hear the household, it is the only product that genuinely addresses it, and the alternative is building a room. If the complaint is echo rather than intrusion, panels at a tenth of the price are the better purchase.

ISO 717-1 — Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements, airborne sound insulation
The standard behind the RW figures most office pods publish. RW is a laboratory single-number rating for a BUILDING ELEMENT measured between two reverberant rooms, which a freestanding furniture enclosure is not. We name the mismatch wherever an RW figure appears.
ISO 23351-1 — Acoustics, measurement of speech level reduction of furniture ensembles and enclosures
The standard written specifically for pods and booths; it reports speech level reduction (DS,A). Not one listing in this category publishes a DS,A figure, which is why every pod rating on this site is presented as the manufacturer's RW claim rather than as a comparable isolation figure.
