Half of this category publishes a load rating. On a product whose job is holding things up, that is the specification.

The short answer
Buy the Aokitsink 4-drawer cart. It publishes a 150 lb capacity on a 14 lb frame AND per-drawer dimensions of 12 by 16.5 by 4.25 in, which makes it the only cart here where you can check what fits before it arrives. If the cart needs to hold hanging files rather than drawers, buy the SISESOL instead - it states both drawers take letter, legal and A4 and publishes a 200 lb load, which no other cart in this category does.
The specification half this category omits

From each listing's own published specification, 2026-10-03. Two absences in one row is a product you cannot assess at all.
Why the load matters here specifically: these carts get filled with reams of paper and equipment, which is the heaviest thing per cubic inch a home office owns. A ream of 500 sheets is about 5 lb, so a cart holding ten reams is carrying 50 lb before anything else goes in. Paper in upright files is about 1.5 lb per linear inch.
Height, which rules one of them out
A cart exists to go under a desk. Standard apron clearance is about 25 to 27 in on a 29 in desk, and carpet takes some of that.
Three of these clear it. The Sweetcrispy at 34.25 in does not, which is taller than most desks and makes its casters useful only for moving it around the room. It is a good 7-drawer cabinet standing beside a desk and a mistake underneath one.
The SISESOL publishes two different heights, 26.1 in in its dimension fields and 27.5 in in its text. On a 1.4 in discrepancy, plan against the larger figure and measure your own apron first.
Mesh drawers: the trade
Three of these four use metal mesh drawers, and it is a genuine trade rather than a cost saving.
For: you can see the contents without opening anything, which for storage you dig through weekly is the difference between a system and a box.
Against: dust gets in, and small items - paper clips, SD cards, screws - fall through.
The fix: a shallow tray or a plastic box inside the drawer for small items, which costs a few dollars and keeps the visibility for everything else.
How we ranked these
The hub's five metrics - capacity, load rating, footprint, build and documentation - with load rating weighted heavily, because it is both the key specification and the one most often missing. Full rubric on how we pick.

What the specs are good for
A 150 lb published load, which is 100 boxes-worth of certainty the other carts here do not give you
Publishes per-drawer dimensions at 12 x 16.5 x 4.25 in, so you can check what fits
4.25 in drawer depth, more than double the under-desk adhesive drawers
Drawer stops, so a pulled drawer does not come out onto the floor
14 lb carrying 150 lb is a genuinely good frame-to-load ratio
What they are not
Does not say whether any drawer takes hanging files, so as a filing product it is unconfirmed
Mesh drawers: dust and small items
Only two of the casters lock
26.6 in is 0.2 in taller than the SWTYMIKI, which is irrelevant until your desk apron is exactly 26.5 in
Skip this if
Skip this if you specifically need hanging files. Aokitsink publishes the load and the drawer size and says nothing about file rails, and a 4.25 in drawer will not hang folders upright anyway.
Who it is for. Heavy under-desk storage — reams, equipment, binders — where the 150 lb figure is the reason to buy.

What the specs are good for
BOTH drawers take hanging files, stated explicitly. Most mobile cabinets give you one file drawer and two box drawers and leave you to find out
About 1.87 dollars per filing inch, the best value of any mobile unit here
A center caster plus 55 lb of steel: the most stable budget roller in this set
Removable hanging bar, so a drawer becomes a plain drawer when you need one
Full-extension slides at 55 dollars
What they are not
The listing gives 26.1 in in its dimension fields and 27.5 in in its text, a 1.4 in discrepancy that matters if it has to go under a desk
No glide material stated, only the extension
No warranty
Skip this if
Skip this if it has to fit a tight desk clearance. With the published height disagreeing with itself by 1.4 in, measure your apron and allow the larger figure.
Who it is for. The default mobile filing cabinet for a home office: two real file drawers, locks, rolls, stays put.
If you need filing capacity, a cart tops out at about 29 linear inches because it has to fit under a desk. A standing lateral cabinet gives you double that for similar money.
If it will never move, casters cost money, cost stability and add height. A fixed unit of the same size is cheaper and steadier.
If the problem is small-item clutter on the desk, an 11-dollar drawer mounted under the desktop solves it for a quarter of the price and takes no floor at all. Best under-desk storage covers the whole format, and under-desk storage ideas has the measurements.
FAQ
Questions people ask about this
How much weight can an office storage cart hold?+
Where it is published, 150 to 200 lb, which covers reams of paper and equipment comfortably. Two of the four carts we examined publish no load rating at all, which on a product whose job is holding things up is the specification going missing.
Will a storage cart fit under my desk?+
If it is under about 26.5 in tall, usually. Measure from the floor to the underside of the desktop or its frame rail, on the carpet if there is carpet. One cart in our set is 34.25 in, which is taller than most desks.
Do storage carts hold hanging files?+
Only if the listing says so. The SISESOL states both drawers take letter, legal and A4; most carts never confirm it, and a 4.25 in drawer will not hang folders upright anyway. Best mobile file cabinets covers the filing-specific format.
Are mesh drawers a problem?+
They let you see contents without opening anything, which is genuinely useful, and they let dust in and small items through. A shallow tray inside one drawer for clips and small parts keeps the visibility everywhere else.
Will a rolling cart move when I open a drawer?+
Yes, unless the casters are locked. Lock them before opening a loaded drawer. A center caster helps too: it stops the cart tipping forward when the front wheels are braked.

Our arithmetic: the weight of office paper
A standard letter-size banker's box holds about 2,500 sheets; 2,500 sheets of 20 lb bond weighs about 25 lb, so a full box is roughly 30 lb including the box. That works out at about 1.5 lb per linear inch of upright files. Every shelf-load and cabinet-load comparison on this site uses those figures and shows the sum.
